It just dawned on me as I started to update my blog that I haven't updated for December. Never fear... I will give you a nice Christmas-y background to look at soon. I'm sure you were all concerned. :)

I heard from Andrew a couple mornings ago (in the wee hours) - he made it over there after spending 21 hours on the plane. But we could only talk for a few minutes and I haven't heard from him since, so I can only assume everything else is going well. I miss him! A lot!

Happy Birthday to Michael today (Michael is my brother-in-law, not to be confused with my friend Ali's husband Michael - whose birthday is ALSO today - but happy birthday to him as well). :)

I am back to using 35mm film. I sent my digital camera with Andy. I don't know if I'll survive. I do know I'll be spending way too much on film and developing (maybe - I have about 26 roles of film accumulated in the last couple of years that need to be developed? They just sort of piled up on us). Okay, so my question is - for those who still use the archaic 35mm film - where do you get your photos developed? I usually use Wally World's one-hour developing, but the quality isn't stellar. But I don't want to spend ten dollars more PER roll at some specialty shop. So let me know who you use and how satisfactory the results are. I may try the other two Wal-Marts that are here - maybe theirs will be better? Or does anyone use Target or KMart? Seems like I used KMart in KY and they actually did a good job (even though I don't care for that store and never go there). It may be a few months before I get my new digital camera (or longer), so I need to figure something out since I am such a picture freak (not as much while pregnant because I feel ugh, but once Jacob is here I'll be snapping away again).

False labor...

Well, Trish and I spent several hours at the hospital this evening. Fun! My stomach has been numb all day, I was having lower back pain and strong contractions ten minutes apart. A friend picked up the kids to take them to church (she has been taking them on Wednesday nights since I've been on bed rest), so Trish and I made the trek to the hospital. Of course, once I was lying down in triage, the contractions came to a halt (isn't that the way it goes?). I had some more while lying there, but they weren't very strong. I was checked and I have not dilated any, but am 50% effaced. I wasn't effaced at all two weeks ago at the doctor's office, so stuff is going on. My stomach is still numb (the nurse said it was the skin stretching? I think she didn't know). All I know, is it feels really weird and is annoying - I've had some numbness in my butt and left leg/foot as well - I guess the baby is sitting on some kind of nerve or something (TMI?). I go to the doc again Monday and have an ultrasound next Thursday, so we'll see what happens. I hate going in for false labor - ugh. But it's better to be safe than sorry. I certainly don't want to put off going and end up having the baby at home! I'll be 32 weeks tomorrow, but I still think I'm further along and am more like 35-36 weeks. I think the nurse thought so too. And the baby's head is way down there - he's ready!!! The good news is that I don't weigh as much as I thought. I've only surpassed my peak weight (at delivery with Brittany) by 1/2 a pound, so that's not too bad. :)

Gone...

Andrew left yesterday afternoon. I miss him already! Watching his unit march away from us was the worst! "They" say the first couple of weeks are the hardest (transition period). We'll see. Not that he's never been gone before, but a year is a LONG time, especially when I'm about to have a baby. We'll get through it though, and there is always the two weeks mid-tour leave to look forward to. We've come through worse things than being far apart. I'm not sad or depressed (I learned a long time ago that God is the ONLY place to find true joy - not other people or circumstances), but I DO miss him tremendously!!! While this separation will be difficult for both of us (and for the kids), I think it will help us appreciate one another even more and become even closer (for those who know us well - you know that seems odd since we are already SOOOO in love - but there is ALWAYS room to become MORE in love and MORE appreciative of your spouse). Well, I am exhausted from all the running around the past few days (my bedrested pregnant body isn't able to handle much exertion), so I'm headed back to the couch to rest.

If anyone that does not have it would like Andrew's address to write to him while he's gone, just email me and I'll send it to you... petracarden@yahoo.com.

Some photos...

I love this "baby" tank top that Robyn gave me, although my hair looks rather mullet-ish here (I'm still trying to grow it out from when I chopped it as short as Sharon Stone's hair over a year ago!). :)
I am sitting on the porch watching Andy packing for Iraq (his military stuff is kept in the shed, so that is why he is packing outdoors?)

Darby was VERY excited to be setting up the Christmas tree!

Andy getting all the branches put on (yes, we have a fake tree; we bought this one our first Christmas together). :)

Darby wanted to put the angel on top of the tree.

Jarvis hanging his favorite ornament

Justice hanging an ornament I painted for him when he was a baby. :)

Brittany has about one inch to go and then she'll start passing me up in height! They grow so fast!!!

My enormous self going through ornaments so the kids can hang them on the tree (they love hanging them - even though we end up with a LOT more on the bottom of the tree than on the top LOL).

G-ma watching the festivities :)

Okay, so my digital camera does not like dim lights, bright lights, or anything of the sort (one of the reasons I've got my eye on a NEW one). :)

Darby likes to lie under the tree and look up at the ornaments. The kids absolutely LOVE having the tree set up (I love it too - Christmas is so much fun!). :)

Oh yes, and here are the photos I just framed for the kids to hang on their walls - so they can see daddy every day while he's gone. :)

Jacob's ready, Black Friday, Christmas, and Thanksgiving...

I was super uncomfortable last night and didn't get to sleep until early this morning. After getting up and taking a bath this morning, I found out why I got no sleep. They baby has dropped. The good news is that I can now BREATHE! :)

So who got up while it was still dark and waited in line for that must-have item this morning? I LOVE to do the whole day-after-Thanksgiving shopping thing, but of course, was unable to. I sent Andy and his mom out though. Justice and Brittany wanted to go as well - so they all got out of bed before 4:00 a.m. and headed out. They were having a SUPER deal on laptops at Wal-Mart, so I thought - "why not get Andy one to take to Iraq". Andy got his Black Friday initiation (he had never been). :) The first Wal-Mart they went to had 80 people waiting in line just for the laptops and they said they only had 15 available, so they headed to Best Buy (which also had a laptop on sale), but there were over 200 people all waiting in line outside that store, so they made it to a different Wal-Mart before 5:00 a.m. (they left rather early), but they only had a small amount of laptops and Andy missed out. He offered one lady money for her laptop ticket (she couldn't afford it and was going to put it on layaway), and she was about to give it up, but a salesperson came over and said "you can't do that. I'll have security kick you out of the store". So Andy left it alone (why are some salespeople like that? He wasn't harrassing the woman!). Anyway, Andy came home with a pile of stuff for ME instead! I had asked them to go to Goody's on the way home and get me a bathrobe (I don't have one and need one for bringing to the hospital and Goody's had a cute one on sale this morning). So he brought me home a bathrobe, slippers, flip-flops, and two pairs of adorable pajamas!!! Plus, he got me six new towels at Wal-mart while they were there, and a new sheet set for our bed at Goody's, oh, and some really cute Christmas candles! :) He said he figured since he wasn't getting the laptop, he had money to spend on me. He is so sweet!!! :) Oh, one of the pairs of pajamas is Happy Bunny and it says "Crazy doesn't even begin to cover it" with Happy Bunny in a straight-jacket (is that ME or what?!). :D They are too cute!!! The other pajamas are cute monkeys and say "Got monkeys?" (monkeys are my favorite!).

Once they got home and woke me up (at 8 a.m.), Andy got all the Christmas stuff out, and by the time I came down after my bath, the living room was rearranged, the tree was set up, and ready for me to start opening and passing out ornaments to the kids! Our tree is decorated now and is so pretty! We haven't decorated one for the last two years (last year we were in a hotel on Christmas since we moved on Christmas Eve, and the year before the kids and I were living with my parents). We are playing Christmas music, some people are taking naps, and we are all in the Christmas spirit. :)

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving yesterday. Trish made an AWESOME meal - we let Andy pick the menu since he will miss a year of holidays, and he wanted ham (he's not much of a turkey fan). I am in the midst of having leftovers and they are yummy, yummy, yummy! :) Also, Trish has been AMAZING since she got here - taking over the kids' homeschooling for me (earlier this week before the holiday), cooking meals, cleaning, bringing me food, drinks and whatever I need... Soooooo helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

November 23, 2005, 11:48 pm

Today was a good day. I'm worn out (so why am I up?), but it was good. My cold is almost completely gone, thank the Lord!

I FINISHED making all of my Christmas cards today. Still need to buy envelopes and address them and sign the insides - but the cards themselves are DONE (85 of them). :)

My contractions weren't too bad today, so Trish watched the kids while Andy and I went on a date. I couldn't do any walking, and there were no movies showing we wanted to see, but we ate some dinner at McAlister's and then wandered Wal-Mart (okay so errands got thrown into our date, but it was nice being alone)... Andy pushed my invalid self in the wheelchair again. I'll be glad when my body is mobile! It was nice to spend some time alone together. Only five days until he leaves (wah!). I sure do love him!!!!! :)

We took some family photos today. Trish took a bunch of the whole family (for the Christmas card, and because I wanted some family pictures before Andy leaves). I think we ended up with some good ones. We may take a few more when we get the Christmas tree set up this weekend ~ I'll hold off on printing the photos for the cards until then to see if I like them better. :) I also took a few photos of each of the kids alone with Andy (I'm going to frame them and put them in their rooms so they have a picture of themselves with their daddy while he's gone). Here is my favorite picture from the day:

I hate having a cold. Oh well - could be worse I suppose. I have been blowing my nose and sucking on cough drops and drinking hot tea and guzzling water... unfortunately, I can't take most of the cold medicines out there, so I'm just awaiting the end of the symptoms. I had Andy go get me some Sudafed that did not have the pseudophedrine in it (I can't take that stuff - it makes the room spin) - I had him get the one that is supposed to be just a nasal decongestant. Well... FYI... it doesn't work. It doesn't do anything. If I want clear sinuses, the room will have to spin, and I'm not willing to make that compromise. It was a nice thought though. :)

Andy's parents came down this weekend. Thor left this morning, and Trish is here to stay for as long as I need her. She is SOOOOOOO helpful, and she is so great with the kids! I'm definitely blessed to have a good mother-in-law!

I hope everyone is having a good week, and that no one else is sick as a dog (where did that saying come from, by the way? Are dogs sick more often than other animals?). I'm going to check my email and my favorite blogs, then head back to the couch with my box of Kleenex! :D

Reason #847 why I love my husband...

He is, as we speak, vacuuming the stairs. He just finished completely DEEP cleaning the living room. Who knows what he will be doing next. His parents are coming tomorrow - and he knows I don't like to have anyone visit when the house is a wreck, but I can't do anything about it. I didn't even ASK him to clean - he just did it. He's awesome! I love him! :)

This and that...

I'm just going to go ahead and say don't count on me updating my blog every day for a while. I have been down for the count most of the week, and now have a cold on top of it. Fun! It's alright though - I know things could be much worse. I'm just thankful that Jacob seems to be healthy and thriving in the womb, and I can't wait until he comes out and I can meet him. :) I am 30 weeks pregnant as of yesterday. Ten weeks until my due date (not that I've ever gone to my due date).

Andy and the kids are at the lake for an FRG "party" (Family Readiness Group - and party is in quotation marks because the last one they had that I went to was not party-like at all - "party" insinuates "fun" LOL). It was required for Andy to be there, so he brought the kids. He has had a lot of time off this week and it has been really nice. He'll be off a lot between now and when he leaves as well. Thor and Trish are coming tomorrow - Thor will be here a few days and Trish will stay with me until the baby comes (how awesome is she?!?!).

It is finally cold in Texas. Well, I use the term "cold" loosely. The kids have to wear sweatshirts now, and maybe a coat at night. I'm not sure whose idea it was to have the FRG party at the lake when it's chilly outside, but I don't volunteer for that so I don't have any say. I'm not even there so I guess it doesn't matter. :)

Andy bought "Madagascar" for the kids the other day. It was okay (we hadn't seen it in the theater), but I expected it to be better. There were some funny parts, but there were some parts where I was bored out of my mind. Not that it was made for adults... :D The kids loved it and keep going around singing "I like to move it, move it" over and over again. Jarvis has some crazy dance he does that is hysterical. And Darby follows him around trying to copy it. They are quite the pair. They definitely keep me entertained!!! :D

Well, I've rambled on enough for today's blog... I'll try not to skip three days next time. ;)

Still here. Saturday was such a good day, Sunday wasn't too bad (was a little worn out from Saturday), but Monday and today were/are completely icky feeling days. However, I did see my new doctor yesterday and he totally rocks compared to the old chick I was seeing! It was SUCH a better experience. My old doctor had FAILED to mention to me that my blood tests showed that I was anemic (would explain a LOT of my symptoms - low energy, jittery limbs, insomnia, etc.), so my NEW doctor has me taking extra iron tablets - hopefully those will help with my energy levels and my sleeping. He checked me and there is no change in my cervix (TMI?! yeah, after five kids there is no such thing as too much information - it's just like 'yeah whatever - just get this kid out of me' LOL), so that is a good sign - apparently my rest and hydration are working to keep the baby in there, so I just have to keep on resting and drinking my weight in water as long as the contractions are still coming when I move around (they are). Oh, and he said the baby's head is down already - which, even after being pregnant five times, I still don't know how they can tell that by feeling my stomach - I mean, I can tell where LIMBS are because they are kicking me, but how can he find the head? Anyway, he also scheduled another ultrasound to make sure everything is a-ok, but when they called to set up the time this morning they said they have NO openings until December 8th - which sucks because I wanted Andy to be able to see the baby on ultrasound again before he leaves for Iraq - but we weren't expecting another ultrasound at all so I guess it's okay. :) Anyway, all in all, it was a good doctor experience, and I am MUCH more at ease having this guy deliver my baby than the quack-o doctor I WAS seeing. Thank you to everyone who was praying the new doctor would be good! :)

On another note, Andy a.k.a. Super Dad took the kids camping on Sunday night (he was off work on Monday). They loaded their backpacks and hiked off away from the house. They hiked about two miles and set up camp near a creek with a vine they could swing across (the kids had never done that before so they were totally thrilled - even Darby fought for her turns on the vine - she's quite the daredevil - the vine ended up breaking while Brittany was mid-stream though, so she got soaked). :) I have lots of photos to send out and will do that in the next day or two (I'm only on here briefly tonight and then heading back to a horizontal position). But for now, here are a couple of my favorite photos that they came back with... :D

Getting ready to head out. Darby was the only one without a backpack - Andy ended up carrying her too though. :)

At their campsite - ready for some wilderness fun (uh, yeah, I probably would have opted out of this trip even if I wasn't on bedrest - I'm not much of a camper - perhaps too much of it when I was little? Perhaps I just don't like bugs and being without amenities - I'm glad ANDY loves to take the kids though). :)

Darby is so cute - apparently Andy was telling her how to do it and she just grabbed the vine and started swinging without awaiting instruction - she was READY! :D

I felt so much better last night and today. Last night I was able to do some laundry, and move around some. Today... I got out of the house!!! I think Jacob is maybe deciding that it is indeed too early to be trying to come out. :)

7 Good Things Today (with photos)...

#1: I promised Brittany that I would take her out and we would get our hair done - forever ago - but I have not been able to do it. Yesterday, I finally colored my icky dark roots, and today, Brittany and I were able to go to the salon! I got my hair trimmed and it looks SOOOOO much better - it was looking pretty frazzled and uneven. Brittany got a few inches cut and some long layers - this was her first time in a salon (I think she liked it!). The lady straightened her hair, and much to Britt's disappointment, within 30 minutes of leaving the place, her hair was curly again. Oh well. :) Here is Britt's before/after shots (uh, yeah, we just took them in the van):

L: before; R: after

#2: We got a few photos of me pregnant - nothing that REALLY shows off the belly, but at least there will be proof that Jacob was actually IN my belly! Ha! My hair was looking so bad before and I was usually in comfy p.j.'s so not too many photos have been taken in the last couple of months. Here are a couple of my faves from today (Justice and Jarvis were the photographers - hey, beggars can't be choosers, right? I think they did a pretty good job). :) Oh, and yes - it is mid-November and we are still wearing tank tops here in Texas!!! :|

#3 and #4: (3)We went to Tar-zhay (a.k.a. Target) and I was able to use the gift certificate from Josh and get my stroller/carseat travel system for Jacob. I have no photo of that yet since it is still in the box, but I'm so glad to have it! (4)Also, I got this really cool, AWESOME smelling incense set (ALL six of them smell sooooo good) for a really good price, and I love it! (For those who don't know, I am a scented candle and incense FREAK!). :D

#5: I realized that I am SO cool! Here is me riding in the motorized cart... oh yeah! It doesn't get much better than this. (I'm still not able to walk much - in fact, by the end of the days activities, I had to sit and drink lots because the contractions started - they went away though, with some rest and fluids. Anyway...) The BEST part, besides rolling down the aisles getting in everyone's way, and besides the fact that when you go in reverse the cart loudly and annoyingly beeps until you stop, the BEST part was when, after stating that the cart didn't go fast enough, I took it around a corner and nearly knocked over an entire shelf full of shoe polish and things of the sort - I rammed RIGHT into it. There was shoe polish everywhere. Justice was uncontrollable with laughter - I think he actually fell on the floor. The kids were calling me "that crazy lady in the cart" and pretending not to know me. I am too cool!

#6: I received a box of baby things from Ali today. THANK YOU ALI!!!!!!!!!!! I was able to go through it tonight while recovering from the trip out, and it was full of tons of great clothes and things for the baby! She also sent a crib dust ruffle and curtain, and guess what - it TOTALLY matches the stuff I was going to get for Jacob's crib!!!! I went through all the clothes and separated the sizes, and between that box, the bag of clothes I got from my friend Donna (she's pregnant with a girl so got rid of a few boy things she had left over from the last one), and some preemie clothes I got from Debra (my brother-in-law's sister), I am pretty much set for clothes! God has totally blessed us - it is amazing how He continuously provides!!! :)

#7: Last, but certainly not least... My husband is amazing. He got home this morning from working ALL day yesterday and ALL night (yes, it was Veteran's Day, but he had duty), and Justice was the only one awake, so he took him on a really cool hike (unfortunately they did not bring the camera). Justice had a total blast (the kids are really relishing spending time with Andy these last couple of weeks that he is here). THEN, he watched the younger three kids while Brittany and I went to get our hair done. THEN, he helped me shop - He took strollers and carseats apart, tested them, asked the sales people questions, helped me decide on the best one - He let me tool around on my motorized cart and do some alone shopping while he brought the kids to the toy aisles - He didn't pretend not to know me when I was knocking people over with the motorized cart. THEN, we got home tonight and he totally helped the boys get EVERYTHING out of their room and he cleaned carpets, windows, blankets, EVERYTHING. It looks SO much better in there (I haven't been able to keep up with the kids rooms lately and they tend to get out of hand without adult help!). Andrew is AWESOME! :)

I hope everyone else had as good of a day as I did. :D

Consumer help requested...

I am in the market for a few things that I've been researching online, but really the best kind of research is word-of-mouth from people who have had good and/or bad experiences with certain products. So, the two main items I am looking for are a new washing machine (mine is about to kick the bucket and I've never really had a good one - I want a GOOD one this time), and a digital camcorder (one that is very easy to make DVD's from for sending to Andy in Iraq and also takes good quality videos - without costing a small fortune, of course). I would love to hear from anyone that has suggestions regarding either of these items. :)

I'm also going to get a new digital camera at some point and have been researching what I want. Of course I could go for the fancy schmancy top-of-the-line stuff, but the more I look, the more I think I want something a little smaller and that I don't have to take a photography class to learn how to use (that'll come one day, but not yet). Plus, I don't think I want to tote around a hefty camera when I have five kids to tote around, but I want something nice that will take really good photos. The two I'm looking at are the Nikon D50 and the Canon Powershot Pro1. Expensive, yes, but I should be able to get one of these in a few months (hopefully). So give me your thoughts - I know Nikon Vs. Canon is a pretty controversial topic for some people - ha! I'm leaning more towards the Nikon D50, even though the Canon is a little cheaper. So all you photographers out there - give me your feedback. And if you know of one that is cheaper but just as good, let me know about that too. I'm so ready for a nice camera - the one I have now is such a source of frustration! I NEED to be able to take quality photos since I'm so obsessed with taking pictures (especially with a new baby!). :)

When did this happen???

Uh... since I haven't been able to take the amount of standing up that is required to color the roots of my hair, they have grown to an unsightly length. Um, uh... hmmm... there seems to be quite a few GRAY strands in there?!?! When did THAT happen?!?! I'm not very happy about this. I mean, I color my hair anyway, so yeah... we'll just cover those grays up as soon as we can... but uh, I don't WANT to get old?!?! A little over 7 months and I'll be 30. The big 3-0... with gray hair. Ugh.

A day in the life...

Oh yeah... that's me... in all my glory... no shame. Jarvis took this photo the other day... a day I had to spend on the couch. My "sitting up" time was filled with folding the LARGE pile of clean laundry you see stacked beside me. I've taught the kids how to wash and dry the clothes (since bending over and all the other strain that comes with doing laundry is out of the question for me now), and then they bring them to me to fold. Obviously I had accumulated several loads at this point and needed to get to work. The donuts were on the coffee table - a giggling Jarvis decided to set them up right in front of me for the photo (maybe he was trying to get a more ACCURATE portrayal of me - I think he succeeded). Ha! At least I am drinking water - well, not too much is missing from the glass - so maybe I was looking at a glass of water. No make-up, glasses, hair pulled back with an inch of uncolored roots... NICE! At least I have some funky style with my striped socks, and at least I wasn't wearing my "sheepy time" pajama pants that day!!! :D

The countdown begins... we have a date. 24 days until Andy leaves. :( I think the anticipation is worse than the actual leaving though, and the first few weeks after, then we'll sink into new routines (especially once the baby comes and I'm recovered from the birth), and then we'll just count down the time for mid-tour R&R and then the end of his tour. Thankfully, I'll have people here helping me before Andy even leaves (since I am down for the count) - Andy's mom is coming to stay in a couple of weeks and until the baby is born. Then mom and dad are going to come back to see the baby and to help me out while we are getting used to having a new little one. Speaking of which...

I'm SO looking forward to the baby! I have been craving a baby for so long, and after three miscarriages and this difficult pregnancy, it's hard to believe that soon, very soon, I will have an adorable little, soft, fuzzy baby to cuddle with. :) I'm getting VERY excited!!! :D We are starting to accumulate all the things we will need. God has tremendously blessed in his provisions, as I have had a few people give me baby clothes, and God provided the money for a new bassinet and some other things, and Josh sent money for me to get a new stroller/carseat travel system (as his baby gift to us - THANKS JOSH!!!). I've totally been feeling the third trimester "nesting" symptoms and have been trying to get it all "ready" for Jacob's arrival - as much as I can without being able to walk around (by the way, I'm starting to think Jacob with a 'c', not a 'k' - just FYI). I see my new doctor in a week and a half - kind of sucks that I'm switching doctors this late in the pregnancy (I'm a little over 28 weeks if we are correct on the due date), but from what I've heard the new doctor is WORLDS above the quality of my last doctor - everyone rants and raves about him, so that is a blessing! Not too much longer... I'm looking forward to his arrival! :)

Blessings...

God is amazing - the way He constantly provides for His people just overwhelms me at times. I attend a ladies' Bible Study once a week - of course, I haven't been able to go the last few weeks. The ladies' there knew I was confined to the house and they have started to bring me a couple of meals a week. Then today, my Sunday School class started bringing meals a few times a week. So between the two, we are living high on the hog. We have MORE than enough food to go around, enough to cover dinners, leftovers for lunches, and then some. I have had so many frozen meals and so much macaroni and cheese (one of Brittany's specialties) since the contractions started, that this is just AWESOME. I didn't even ask for help - it was just offered. God is good!

Sorry...

I've gotten some flack for not including a few people in my "funny people" list. :) Just to clarify - the people on that list are not the ONLY people that I find funny. They just stood out in my mind as causing me to go into fits of hysterics from time to time. :D There are many other people that share my sense of humor and we laugh at a lot of the same things (you know who you are!), but that is a different category in and of itself. I hope I cleared that up for those who were concerned. LOL ;)

Andrew...

Maybe everyone is tired of hearing it, but I have an awesome husband. He brought me more treats today (McAlister's lunch and Olive Garden dessert - yes, chocolate lasagna), which added to my overwhelming blessings of food (and I love good food!). He gives me numerous massages... this may not seem like a big deal to some, but I know many wives that complain that their husbands only TAKE massages and they have to go pay strangers if they want a back massage, but my husband takes care of me very well in that department! :) I will miss him more than words can express when he leaves (25-28 days until he leaves for Iraq). I'm on here tonight trying to get caught up on some school stuff for the kids (so of course I'm updating my blog instead) while Andy studies for his E-6 promotion board on Friday. I'm sure he will do wonderfully - he is an excellent soldier!!! His dedication to his work (without compromising his relationship with his family - which some people don't seem to get how to do), and his patriotism and willingness to serve his country is extremely admirable. I love him! Here are a couple of photos from his trip to Poland:

Andy, another Army dude, and the American Ambassador to Poland, Victor Ash (he used to be the mayor of Knoxville, TN)

Andy is on the left with a couple of Polish officers who were goofing off with the plane (I found that to be amusing). These are the Raven UAV's that he flies. On the right is the other Army guy that went with Andy, and in the background are some Marines that were there demonstrating their UAV.

The kids were thrilled to have their Daddy back home after he was in Poland for a week! :)

Funny moments (because I love to laugh)...

For my blog today, I'm going to brainstorm and make a list of things that I have thought were really funny (most of these you probably had to be there, but if you were then you will laugh when you read them). :)

  • Darby crossing her eyes during our family meeting so she could see "two" of everyone
  • Going to see "Wayne's World" with Kendra and Daniel (way back when) - and Daniel laughing SO loudly and hysterically that he was causing a disturbance in the theater
  • Jarvis imitating Jim Carrey's impression of a dinosaur
  • Andy's "name of Helen Keller's dog" joke
  • Looking at old photos of me and Kendra when we thought we were so cool - when really we were complete dorks!
  • Matt and I running over the duck on the bridge on the way to see the Amish town
  • Andy following me around like a crazed dinosaur, making fun of my "I'm pregnant and can't feel my leg" walk
  • Laughs with Kendra over the Grifters, Barb from A&W (49-68-3), Marci, Roxy Charmichael, and numerous - too many to count - other things that only WE thought were absolutely hysterical
  • Andy and Coby's shenanigans
  • Justice's theatrics
  • Mine and Marci's entire trip to NYC - especially Josh and Titus holding up our "signs" at the airport and acting like they didn't know us ("excuse me, are you Marci?")
  • Funny cartoons: Calvin & Hobbes, The Far Side
  • Movies that had me in hysterics: Napoleon Dynamite, Elf, Galaxy Quest, The Burbs, Office Space, Blast from the Past, Toy Story
  • Movies that had some really funny parts (probably along with some boring and/or stupid parts): Zoolander, Liar, Liar, Spies Like Us, Fletch
  • Actors that make me laugh (but not all their movies are completely funny): Will Farrell, Jim Carrey, Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Christopher Walken
  • Funniest TV show ever: Seinfeld
  • The funniest people I know: Andy (my number one characteristic in looking for a mate was that he had to be funny! Seriously! :D), Coby, Kendra, Daniel (although it's been a while since I've seen you - are you still funny?!), Matt, Timothy (the funniest, wittiest teenager I know - he cracks me up), my children... there are many other people that make me laugh, but these are the few that stand out to me as really funny most of the time. :D

Okay, so I love to laugh, I love to make people laugh, and I love to be around people that make me laugh. People that take life too seriously need to just stay away from me. Just kidding, but I do think that many people do not laugh enough, and they need to take a moment to lighten up. :)

Andrew's home!!!, an invalid at Wally World, Halloween...

It is so good to have Andrew home. He got Monday off, so we were able to spend a couple of days together before he had to go back to work. He is so sweet to me. I'm so blessed to have a husband who loves me, who puts my needs ahead of his own. I love him! :) I'll post a couple of photos of his trip to Poland later today or tomorrow.

I actually ventured out of the house on Sunday afternoon... I was feeling better that day and the contractions weren't coming, so I thought I could hit Wally World (yeah right!). Of course the contractions started when I got there, so Andy grabbed one of the germ-free (uh, yeah) wheelchairs with the baskets and pushed me around Wal-Mart like a madman. I felt like a cart. I felt like such a dork. I felt like an invalid. But at least I got out of the house (the cabin fever was starting to make me totally insane :}). I least I got to pick out some baby things that I will be needing (shopping online sucks when it is your only option!). Justice begged me not to ride in the wheelchair, but he agreed it was better (more dignified) than the motorized cart that you drive around yourself. He was a little embarrassed - not that I can blame him - but he survived. Ha!

Andy took the kids to the church activity last night and trick-or-treating around our neighborhood. The kids had fun and got lots of candy. They looked so cute... here are a few photos:

Brittany was a "sleeping person"... again. LOL Justice was a Marine Sniper (which went over VERY well on an Army base... lots of people thought his costume was cool and he ended up getting the most candy because of it. LOL) :)

Jarvis was a knight, although some called him a gladiator. Darby was Snow White. There is another cute photo of Darby on the October page - I posted it last night. :)

Trading candy at the end of the night :D
