March 12, 2006, 9:19 pm 2 1/2 weeks and 3,060 miles later... We made it home about an hour ago. Finally. It's funny how, after a long trip, even though it's been fun, I just cannot WAIT to get home. It's so nice to walk through that door... it's so relaxing (even if I did come home to little messes all over the house that I didn't clean up before I left). Jacob goes for his two month doctor visit (including shots - wah!) in the morning, then I'll come home and unpack and do some cleaning. After all that, I hope to update my blog and inundate you all with millions of photos (if you aren't on my photo album email list and want to be - send me an email). I'll leave you with one or two pictures now, and will tell you all about our wonderful trip tomorrow. :)
Okay, more photos and trip details to come... :) (it's SO good to be home - did I mention that?!) :D February 23, 2006, 9:36 pm HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO... Isaiah on the 21st and Chris today!!! :) February 21, 2006, 3:43 pm I'm a day late but... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBYN!!! All kinds of stuff... Things have been a little hectic around here. The diabetes has had me feeling pretty raunchy (I couldn't get a dr. appt. until March 10th, so I'll be sure to be back from my trip by then). I'm trying to watch what I eat - it's hard getting on a consistent eating schedule though. I think if I can do that, it'll make a world of difference. Andrew left Sunday morning. We miss him terribly already. Last night he called from Kuwait and was heading north soon after I talked to him. We had an AWESOME two weeks together though, for which we are very thankful. Now the countdown to November begins. We did get webcams while he was home, so we'll be able to see and talk to each other when he's on the base. We tested them while he was at the Dallas airport on a layover... and they are awesome! I'm so glad we got them. (good idea, Andy!!!) :D I had to go to the dentist today for a toothache. And just as I suspected, it was being caused by this stupid wisdom tooth that is halfway poking through. She recommended I have all four wisdom teeth cut out - which I also knew I needed. So I have an appt. with the oral surgeon in mid-March. That should be fun! Mom and dad have been here since Friday. Darby was up all night Saturday throwing up (FUN!) so we didn't get to take Andrew to the airport (he drove himself and we later picked up the van), but she is feeling MUCH better now - it was just a 24-hour thing. Thank the Lord no one else has gotten it! Anyway, mom and dad came over Sunday morning (they were at a hotel the first two nights they were here), and mom was kind enough to let me get some sleep while she washed all the bedding, etc. that Darby had thrown up on. Last night, the ladies from my Sunday School class had a baby shower for me at Logan's Roadhouse. It was so fun. Jacob and I went while mom and dad watched the other kids. They had the CUTEST cake, but of course, I forgot my camera (I'm still getting used to bringing all but the kitchen sink with me every time I go out with a new baby). I did take a photo of the half-eaten cake when I got home and will post that soon. I was sort of good and only ate three bites of the cake (it was good though). :) I'll post some more photos later. I've already taken about 700 pics with my new camera. Hopefully I'll have a way to upload photos for you all to see while I'm on my trip. :) February 18, 2006, 11:06 am Today is Jarvis 7th birthday... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JARVIS!!!! :D
We are going to have a little party for him this afternoon. It's in the 30s here today - YUCK. It was in the 80s on Thursday and dropped 40 degrees overnight, then 10 more degrees today. BUT... it will be back to 80 by Wednesday. Thank goodness. Of course, we're getting ready to go to TN, so we may end up experiencing even more cold weather. I am NOT a cold weather type of girl! Here are a couple of pictures of Jacob taken yesterday - this outfit is a 'preemie' size... he's a bit of a runt - the preemie clothes still fit (a little short in the arms though since his arms are long) and the newborn size clothes are too big. ;) He was five weeks old yesterday. I LOVE my camera - I can't wait until I figure out how to REALLY use it. :D
February 17, 2006, 12:22 am I haven't had much chance to experiment with my new camera yet, but Andy and I have walked around snapping photos on 'auto' mode. I'll get more of a chance to really take photos on our trip!!! Here are a few from the last couple of days though...
February 16, 2006, 7:39 pm We're about to head to Wally World, but I wanted to post really quick to wish my best friend a... HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALI! :) I hope you had a good day sorting through girl scout cookies! Haha! :) Mom and dad are coming in tomorrow. Jarvis turns 7 on Saturday, and Andy leaves on Sunday. I'm doing about 8 million things on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, then on Wednesday we leave for our cross-country trek through 8 or 9 states. :) More later... February 15, 2006, 2:52 pm HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAVANNAH!!! :) V-Day... I hope everyone had a good day with their loved ones yesterday. Andrew and I had a wonderful time last night. A friend of ours had the kids over to spend the night (all but Jacob) while Andrew and I went to dinner and a movie. We were going to go to Austin and eat at some fabulously romantic restaurant (yes, with a newborn), but uh, silly me, in all my plan-making, I forgot to make reservations! (doh!!!) We figured by the time we got to Austin and to the restaurant, it would probably be 10:00 by the time we got a table without reservations, so we opted to stay in Killeen. We hit the Olive Garden (which was very good - after an hour and a half wait) - I DID order my favorite chocolate lasagna, in honor of Valentine's Day and also to treat myself for being SO good lately about not having any sugar. It was sooooo delicious - and I was actually pretty good. I just ate a few bites of it before my sugar craving was completely satisfied (and I was a bit bouncy after that - having not had sugar in a while - it got me a little bit hyper - haha), and told Andy he could have my leftovers today so I won't be tempted to eat them. :) I picked the kids up this morning about 8 and took them to IHOP for breakfast - not the best IHOP in the world (kinda trashy and the food was mediocre at best), but the kids loved it! :) And... I had pancakes with syrup along with my eggs and bacon - strike two for me in the last 24 hours. But I took a diabetic nap this afternoon and am starting to feel human again... no more sugar for me (at least until the cravings are out of control again and I feel I've been good enough to reward myself with a little bit). :) Good news... I got my camera yesterday!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!! I think I have snapped about 100 pictures so far, even though there has really been nothing to take photos of! I LOVE how fast you can snap photos with the SLR - my last digital camera (a point and shoot) had SUCH a delay that by the time the photo actually took, the moment was usually GONE! :) Later today I'm going to do a photo shoot of Andrew and Jacob (we're still working in 'auto' mode, because yeah, it's going to take a while to learn how to use the camera manually!!!). I'm so glad I decided to go ahead and get a nice camera. Definitely worth the money! :) *get ready to be bombarded with photos* ;) February 14, 2006, 1:04 pm
February 11, 2006, 8:42 pm A special belated birthday wish for my brother, Josh, since I didn't update my blog on his birthday (so sorry Josh)... :)
February 10, 2006, 7:15 pm Sorry I haven't been keeping up with the blog. I've been busy enjoying the company of my wonderful hubby. :) Calvin & Hobbes... It all started with the purchase of a much-needed, new vacuum cleaner. Jarvis decided he wanted to play with the box. Seemed harmless enough. Fast forward to a few minutes later to the sounds of blood curdling screams at the bottom of the stairs. Yes, the stairs. Apparently, he thought it would be a good idea to pad the bottom of the box with a pillow and blanket, and then ride down the stairs in the box. Mind you, we have tall, steep stairs... not just one or two little steps. He later said he thought it would be fun? Brittany and Justice were actually accomplices and did not put a stop to this insane act. Brittany was at the top of the stairs and let go of the box when Jarvis said "okay let go", and Justice was waiting downstairs cheering him on. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries, just a large lump on the forehead (he was squatting belly-towards-steps inside the box and apparently his head hit when he landed). By the way, he said it wasn't really fun, but it was kind of scary. We call him Calvin (from Calvin & Hobbes). Camera... I have decided which camera I want, but have not yet purchased it. I keep looking in stores, but haven't found what I need, so I'm just going to order it online (which if I had done that to begin with I would HAVE it by now). I'll let you know when I get it (and then you will all be bombarded with LOTS of photos). :) Darby...
February 3, 2006, 9:26 pm ***HAPPY BIRTHDAY THERESA!!!*** Andy made it here this afternoon (after 3 days of airplanes - yuck for him)... He is home and life is good. :)
***I started updating the blog for February last night, but got interrupted before I could upload it. Thought I'd go with a Valentine's theme. :)*** February 2, 2006, 1:42 pm Um, yeah. I was thinking that Andy would just be flying non-stop. But he was stuck in Kuwait for a while and should get to Dallas in the morning. So we should see him sometime tomorrow. This day is CRAWLING!!!! LOL I would clean more, but the house is spotless already. When I wasn't sure when The kids and I went to see Nanny McFee last night. It was cute. (We were trying to pass the time). The movie was better than I thought it would be, and the kids liked it. And there wasn't really anything bad in it either. So, if you have kids, take them to see it - they'll like it. :) My hair is shedding big time! It always does this after pregnancy (since it doesn't shed during). So there is hair everywhere. Oh well. Oh yes, and I'm down to a size 4 now. Woo hoo! Hopefully it won't be too much longer before my size 1s and 2s are fitting me. :) I can't wait to be able to wear all my cute clothes again!!! A couple of photos...
